List of Ambassadors of the United Kingdom to Haiti
The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Haiti is the United Kingdom's foremost diplomatic representative to the Republic of Haiti.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Previous ambassadors to the Dominican Republic and Haiti )〕 From 1913 to 1922, the head of mission in Cuba also served Haiti. The British Embassy in Port-au-Prince was closed in 1966 "for reasons of economy" and the High Commissioner to Jamaica in Kingston was appointed non-resident ambassador to Haiti.〔(British Embassy In Haiti To Close ), ''The Times'', London, 23 April 1966, page 17〕 Responsibility for Haiti was transferred to the ambassador to the Dominican Republic in 1999.〔 In June 2012 the British Foreign Secretary announced that the UK will open a new embassy in Haiti.〔(Foreign Secretary meets Prime Minister of Haiti ), Foreign & Commonwealth Office press release, 27 July 2012〕 The new embassy was opened in June 2013,〔(Foreign Office Minister Hugo Swire opens new British Embassy in Haiti ), Foreign & Commonwealth Office press release, 12 June 2013〕 but as of May 2014 the ambassador to the Dominican Republic is still also ambassador to Haiti, with a deputy head of mission in Port-au-Prince.〔(British Embassy Port-au-Prince ), gov.uk〕
